Dr Ronan Champion

Ronan is Chartered Surveyor and Partner of Construction Consulting firm Champion Pearce LLP. He specialises in analysis of complex claims involving loss, delay, defects and professional negligence arising from construction and engineering projects. Additionally he is a part-time lecturer on quantity surveying, construction management and construction contracts at University of Reading, UK. and supports students at Brunel University and King’s College, London.

Recent work has included acting as expert witness in PPP concession claims; evaluation of the claims for repair of a luxury house following fire damage; claims under NEC3 and assisting with resolution of a large subcontract final account dispute. Recent commissions have involved projects in UK, Ireland, Dubai, and South Africa.

Ronan has co-authored Construction Contracts Law and Management, 5th edition (Routledge) and Tendering and Procurement, published by RICS in its Case in Point series. Papers include “Prolongation Costs: where now after Costain v Haswell” and “E-working in the TCC: an expert’s experience”. He was a prize winner in SCL’s Hudson Prize in two successive years. He maintains a particular interest in valuation of costs and damages from and acceleration issues, the subject of his doctoral thesis at King’s College London. He is a past Chairman of the Society of Construction Law in UK and continues as a SCL council member.
